The Basic HIV Test Counselor Skills Training, formerly known as the Basic I, is a four-day course that introduces participants to the client-centered counseling skills necessary to implement the key practices of HIV counseling and testing, including risk assessment and disclosure, harm reduction, and cultural competence. The training also covers HIV testing procedures using the OraQuick Advance Rapid Test and Office of AIDS policy regarding testing and counseling and data collection. Requirements for completion of this training include successfully completing an observed role-play and passing the post-training quiz and rapid test proficiency exam.
1. Online pre-training course (Basic Counselor Information Training)
2. Successful passing of the post-training quiz (at least 80%).
