AHP has long been committed to the emotional and psychological health and well-being of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) people. Since 1984, we have reached out, in particular, to gay and bisexual men, and over the past several years, we have built our capacity to serve lesbians and bisexual women and transgender people of any sexual orientation. As of 2010, AHP is San Francisco’s primary LGBTQ mental health clinic. We are committed to continuing to expand our programs to meet the unique needs of all members of the LGBTQ community, especially people living with chronic mental health disorders.
Obtaining LGBTQ Services
AHP offers a broad range of professional psychological and peer-based emotional services at no cost to clients and in an LGBTQ-affirmative environment. Some services, however, have income and insurance status limits. Most services require an Intake Appointment, which will help determine the service that will best meet your needs.

AHP relies on volunteer support to help expand our ability to serve as many people as possible. To ensure that volunteers are successful, we provide training and supervision by our professional mental health staff.
Simply put, AHP’s support groups and workshop programs would not be possible without the help of our volunteer facilitators.
