Psychiatric Consultation
Helping San Francisco providers working with
HIV-positive clients understand and treat
psychiatric symptoms and conditions
AHP psychiatrists and psychiatric nurses provide on-site and telephone clinical consultation to HIV agencies and medical providers to help them care for clients with HIV and mental illness.
Providers can request consultation or can refer HIV-positive clients for psychiatric evaluation and treatment by calling 415- 476-3902, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. AHP is unable to provide services to clients who have incomes above the Ryan White CARE requirement for eligibility or who have private insurance. However, AHP can assist these clients in locating alternative services.
In addition, a team of AHP psychiatric nurses and social workers provides consultation to providers and caregivers of HIV-positive individuals who exhibit symptoms of dementia or cognitive decline. The team assesses clients and develops an appropriate treatment plan. Providers can access this service by calling 415-476-3902, Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
