The AIDS Health Project provides a wide range of mental health
services to those taking the HIV test, to persons with HIV/AIDS, to
high-risk HIV negative persons as well as publications and trainings
for health care professionals and volunteers; the Phlebotomist
position resides in the HIV Counseling & Testing Unit that works in
conjunction with the San Francisco Department of Public Health
(SFDPH) to provide the HIV and STD testing and appropriate
counseling to San Francisco residents; the incumbent is responsible
for performing venipuncture procedures consistent with SFDPH
guidelines; these procedures include: venipuncture, fingerstick,
oral-mucousal swab and pharyngeal swab; sestet-up of exam room,
venipucture table tray, HIV Rapid and Convential testing specimen
labeling, STD specimen labeling and all lab slip preparation;
prepares all specimens for transport; maintains medical supplies;
assesses client's ability to consent to testing and understand its
purpose; provides education and counseling to clients; assists with
medical emergencies; and performs other related duties as
assigned.
Required
Qualifications
High School graduation and two years of related experience or an
equivalent combination of education and experience; must possess
current California CPT 1-certification and have current State of
California Rapid Test Proficiency certification with current C.A.T. with
SF DPH as well as current cardio-pulmonary certification; must be
sensitive to needs of clients at high risk for developing HIV
infection; excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
demonstrated excellence in reliability and attendance. Physical
Demands: requires bending, squatting, climbing stairs, reaching up
to shoulder height; pushing/pulling up to 60 pounds; reaching
above shoulder level; sitting, standing, walking, waist twisting,
kneeling, crawling; carrying/lifting 31-60 pounds; gripping/grasping,
fine/gross finger manipulation; repetitive movements of upper
extremities; may be exposed to chemical agents; tuberculosis,
blood, body fluids or tissue, and radiological materials; latex;
differentiate color; use protective equipment..

Preferred Qualifications
Prior UCSF or UC experience; sensitivity to specific psychosocial
need of members of Black, Asian and Latino Communities; bilingual
skills in Tagalog.

The University of California Regents will implement pay

the state budget crisis. This position will be subject to any
cost cutting measures implemented at UCSF.
Under the supervision of the Research Scientist Supervisor II, Office of AIDS Research Section of the State Office of AIDS, the Senior Statistician performs the more advanced and specialized technical work related to the management, cleaning, and reporting of data through the statewide HIV and AIDS surveillance system; the incumbent also acts as lead staff to Office of AIDS data analysts to plan, develop and implement appropriate surveillance methodologies to document the extent, distribution, and impact of the HIV epidemic; duties include: coordinate data management and reporting for California’s statewide surveillance system; data quality assurance of the database and produce routine statistical reports; develop and evaluate procedures for identifying data quality issues; design, program, and implement routine statistical reports to monitor the quality of HIV/AIDS data; identifies operational issues and training needs; respond to ad hoc requests for HIV/AIDS data; designs and develops data table and summaries; prepares state and local HIV/AIDS statistical reports; other duties as required.

Qualifications
Graduation from college with a major in mathematics, statistics, public health, sociology, epidemiology, biology or a related field and four years of professional statistical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; skills, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position; two years of research experience in a field relevant to the stated specialty, or two years working in the capacity of data manager (or equivalent) for a population-based public health data registry (This experience (either research- or registry-based) must have involved responsibility for determining research design and choice of methods for scientific studies); experience and computer literacy with Windows, DOS, SAS, Excel, Word and Access; demonstrated ability to work with persons of varying skill levels; demonstrated ability to establish rapport and work effectively with persons of varying sociocultural backgrounds; possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to act independently, to identify, and effectively manage problems that may arise, and to set priorities; ability to travel when needed; excellent attendance and reliability.

Two years towards completion of a master’s degree of the stated specialty or a closely related field may be substituted for this experience; prior UCSF or UC experience.
